Many people who have ATVs have considered getting a winch at some point. This is actually important for anyone who uses their ATVs off road. If you get stuck in mud, you can use the winch to get yourself out. Of course all winches are not created equal. This review will take a closer look at the Superwinch 1145220 Terra 45.
First off when you are looking for a winch you want to make sure that you have one that is strong enough to pull you out of a tight spot. This particular winch is able to pull 4,500 pounds. If you have enough cable, you should be able to get out of any mud hole. And for those of you who live in the north, and use your ATV in the winter time, you may find yourself using this winch more than you thought you would.
This winch can be installed on just about any ATV that has a four bolt winch mount kit. Which if you were unaware is the standard design on the market today. The gears that operate the winch are twice as wide as most of the competition out there. Because of its size, it will last longer than your typical winch.
One other aspect you find very useful about this winch is the fact that it comes with a 10 foot extension cable for a remote control. This is great to have if you have your ATV in a steep embankment and you want to have enough distance in case something happens. For example, you may need to hook up your winch to a tree that may not be that strong enough to hold. Or even for any other type of unforeseeable circumstance.
If you are not too fond of using steel cable, with this winch, you don't have to use it. The steel drum has been setup to handle either steel cable or synthetic rope so it gives you options.
