Duvet Cover Making
Have you been playing around with the idea of making yourself a duvet cover? Well this article has been written just for you. You need to read the article right through to the end to benefit from its valuable tips.
There are a number of alternative ways to make duvet covers. My focus will be on just one specific one. Let me say this before you get all worked up – it is quite easy to create a duvet cover just as long as you follow all the laid our procedures. With this you don’t have to go aroud looking for discount duvet covers or coverlets Or for those brand powered ones like what size is the poterry barn full duvet size
Here is the first thing you need to do, you need to select the fabric you intend to use. You will also have to take some measurements i.e. you will have to measure the length and the width. Knowing the best size that you will be using it on is important. For instance, is it a queen, king, twin or single bed?
Now here is what I suggest you do. Make sure that you pick a washable fabric that could also double as a home decorator. light weight material is usually more appealing. While you are making those choices do not forget to think about the climatic conditions of your area.
Now you need to choose two lengths of fabric that should be about 54 inches wide. It is always good to make it slightly wider. You will be using these for the front part. Be sure that the panels are the same size as the measurements of the length as mentioned earlier.
-Look for fabric that is a home decorator. make these about fifty four inches wider. Chances are your duvet is wider. In this case simply buy another panel of fabric for each of the duvet sides.
-Now you must think about patterns and prints that you like. You may need to do some variations based on the prints to use. For example, you may have to elongate your panels.
-Prewash and iron the fabric.
-Once you have done that you then need to fold the front panel. Fold them to half lengths.
-You may need to use an iron to make some sharp creases at the folds. It will then be easy to continue once you’ve done that.
-you will have to do this to the panels at the back too.
-Now you need to draw a line that goes down the length of the crease on the panel. Do this using a yard stick and also get yourself a fabric marking pen to do this with ease.
-you need to make six panels by cutting out each line. That is, 3 shall be on the back side and then three for the front of the duvet cover.
-Now the next step on how to make duvet covers is to simply pin one panel that’s tapered to one side of the front panel that is still uncut. pin it down so that all the edges of the material are tightly knit together and the sides of the fabric are also together.
These tips provided above should be enough for you to create your own duvet cover. The missing parts in this article are left out because the rest of the work from here on can be customized to suite your own individual taste.
